Often the problem that people face in developing countries is not a lack of ideas or a lack of ability, but a lack of opportunity. We support programmes that provide that opportunity to transform individual lives, and have an added benefit of aiding community cohesion & development at the same time.

Jewellery Co-operative
In a city where unemployment is at 60% (and where people are living as if you or I were living on £1 or $2 per day) IHA-UDP facilitate community-owned employment schemes, e.g. basket-weaving, clothing and fabrics etc.

New Business and Enterprise (Women at risk, Ethiopia)
A main part of the reason why Women at Risk is so successful is due to the fact that they give vulnerable women new opportunities. Leaving the sex work industry requires that women step into a new life, and learning new employment skills is an important part of that.

Fair trade mining cooperatives
'Fair Trade' certification seems to be the best way to guarantee a fair deal for people struggling with poverty. Following on from the success of higher-profile Fair Trade schemes for the likes of coffee and banana growers, Cred has partnered with the Association for Responsible Mining to pioneer Fair Trade Gold, Platinum & Silver around the world.
